AMR/SCADA FAQ

AMR/SCADA stands for Automated Meter Reading/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. This is an automated meter reading process for reading meters from a remote, centralized location.

Eau Claire Energy has currently installed over 11,000 AMR meters. Letters that have been sent out to customers of each substation before meter changes are listed below, as well as links to WEC news articles containing AMR/SCADA information. Please read the FAQ for more information about AMR/SCADA.

Why AMR/SCADA At ECEC?

Help cooperative members control electric costs by accumulating and giving access to their daily energy use through the Meter Monitor website. This will help members make appropriate changes in energy usage and conservation.
Improve the accuracy of meter readings. We rarely see problems in this area and when we do, it is usually due to slow meters. Unrecorded energy usage must be paid by all consumers rather than the individual using it.
Eliminate the need for the monthly meter reader to come onto your propery. Periodically our line crews will still physically inspect all electric services, including meters.
Provide faster notification to our crews of the location and extent of an outage. This is expected to result in a shorter time without electricity for everyone affected by the outage.

Meter Monitor

As of December 28, 2009 Eau Claire Energy Residential members can signup for access to the Meter Monitor website. This website provides members with access to the daily kilo Watt hour information we are collecting from the AMR meters. The Meter Monitor can be found at http://member.ecec.com/
