Photovoltaics are economical today, especially if you take into consideration the cost of fossil fuel pollution and global warming.Using an analysis that takes into account the solar energy available with utility seasonal demand patterns, effective load caring capacity and costs show that solar can be cost effective even in northern areas.

Landfill Gas to Energy
Eau Claire Energy Cooperative has facilitated a partnership between its wholesale power supplier and an area landfill to produce renewable energy to enhance the reion's power supply. Dairyland Power Cooperative has contracted with ONYX Waste Services Inc., to purchase methane gase, a natural byproduct of the landfill, wil be used by Dairyland to generate renewable energy for the residential and business consumers in the cooperative system...
