TREE TRIMMING AND CUTTING BEGINNING IN JULY
Posted: 6/3/2026
At Eau Claire Energy Cooperative, providing safe, reliable electric service requires ongoing maintenance of our distribution system. One of the most important parts of that maintenance is managing vegetation around power lines.
Beginning in early July, contract crews from Zielie's Tree Service will be working in designated areas of our service territory to trim and remove trees that pose a risk to electric reliability and public safety. Areas scheduled for work are highlighted on the map below.

Trees and other vegetation are among the leading causes of power outages. Branches that grow into power lines or fall during storms can interrupt service, create safety hazards, and increase restoration costs. Regular right-of-way maintenance helps reduce outages, improve system reliability, and ensure electric service can be provided as efficiently as possible.
What to Expect
Members whose property may be affected by this year's tree trimming work will receive a postcard in advance notifying them of the upcoming project.
In addition, representatives from Zielie's Tree Service may visit affected properties before work begins to discuss the planned trimming, answer questions, and explain the work being performed. If no one is available when they stop by, a door hanger may be left with additional information.
Why Tree Trimming Matters
Maintaining clear rights-of-way around power lines helps:
- Improve electric service reliability
- Reduce outage frequency and duration Enhance public and employee safety
- Minimize storm-related damage
- Control long-term maintenance costs
This work is a critical part of maintaining the cooperative's electric system and ensuring we continue providing reliable service to our members.
